Frey is a seventh-generation Passamaquoddy basket maker who has rapidly ascended the art world after his debut solo show drew the second-largest attendance in Portland Museum of Art history. His work balances ancestral tradition with formal innovation, earning recognition from major institutions including the Met and MacArthur Foundation.
