Lindsay Adams

Apr 17, 2026 – Jun 6, 2026

Abstract paintings built from layered color and gesture that explore freedom, memory, and Black experience through accumulated mark-making.

Why go

Adams's work interrogates abstraction as a vehicle for personal and cultural narrative, weaving together the materiality of paint with memory and identity. Her practice has earned critical recognition including the Helen Frankenthaler Award and a commission for the Obama Presidential Center.

What to expect

Eleven abstract oil paintings on the third floor, featuring luminous blues, pinks, and yellows moving across dark grounds in energetic brushstrokes, with surfaces built from 20 to 30 layers of paint.
