Dickinson's practice treats abstraction as a means to understand change and duration; her paintings function as material palimpsests where time is embedded in each layer, and the accompanying graphite rubbings—called remainders—visualize the physical and poetic properties of time itself.

What to expect

Five oil paintings on plaster-like grounds displayed alongside their corresponding graphite rubbings, which are arranged on a low central platform and periodically leafed like an open book so visitors encounter the work's temporal record across multiple visits.

• Jessica Dickinson was born in 1975 in Saint Paul, Minnesota and has lived and worked in Brooklyn since 1999.
• She received an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art (1999) and BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art (1997).
